This is a Moreish Bread that is fantastic to eat straight from the oven when cooled for ten minutes and served with your favourite slice of Cheese and makes excellent toast! You will notice that there is no yeast used in this recipe that is why you need to use the beer as it helps to aid the baking powder.

100g of any swiss cheese such as Emmental or Jarlsberg

360g plain flour

3 tbsp of sugar

3 tsp of baking powder

1 tsp of salt

300ml of LOHAG

2 tbsp of melted butter

extra cheese grated to coat your loaf (optional)

Grease a 8 x 4 inch loaf tin and pre-heat your oven to 190c, gas mark 5.

Divide your cheese in half and cut one half into 1/4 inch cubes if you are using a block of cheese or shred if you are using cheese slices as this will help to give your loaf a good texture. In a large bowl combine the flour,sugar,baking powder and salt, stir in the beer to moisten the mixture the texture should be the same as a cake batter and not dry as there is no kneading involved and then gently fold in the cheese.

Transfer your mixture to your  a prepared loaf tin, I tend to line it with grease proof paper as it makes it easier to lift out and drizzle with the melted butter and cheese if using.

Bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centre of your loaf comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes.
